Porsche Service & Repair in Newark, DE

Cayenne, Macan, Panamera, and the 911, Boxster and Cayman of the water-cooled era. Diagnosed with factory software and estimated in writing.

Porsche service at Dempsey’s

Dempsey’s Service Center, serving Newark-area drivers since 1986, takes Porsche under the same rules as every other car in the bays: find the fault before buying a part, put the estimate in writing, and do nothing the owner has not approved. We diagnose Porsche with an Autel scan tool and factory software, and the European auto repair page describes that equipment and how we use it. A Porsche owner should expect the same things from us as a Honda owner does: photos from the inspection on your phone, a plain explanation of what was found, and a clear line between what the car needs now and what can wait. Porsche repairs are backed by a 2-year/24,000-mile warranty.

Porsche models we service

We take modern, water-cooled Porsches. If you are unsure where your car falls, call with the year and model and you will get a straight yes or no.

  • Cayenne, Macan and Panamera, in all model years.
  • 911 from the 996 generation forward, which begins at about model year 1999.
  • Boxster and Cayman from the early 2000s forward, including the 718 models.

Older air-cooled Porsches are classic cars, and classic work is outside what our shop does. A shop that works on those cars every day will serve an air-cooled 911 better than we would.

What we service on a Porsche

The work below is what we offer on the models above. Each line is estimated in writing after an inspection.

  • Oil service and scheduled maintenance by the Porsche schedule for your model year, with oil that carries the Porsche approval for the engine and the service reminder reset: maintenance.
  • Brake service: pads, rotors, wear sensors and brake fluid, measured before anything is replaced.
  • Warning lights and drivability faults, read with factory software and tested before a part is named: engine diagnostics. A module replaced during a repair is programmed and coded as part of that repair.
  • Suspension and steering repair, followed by a four-wheel alignment on the latest Hunter equipment; cars with aftermarket lowering are not aligned here.
  • Cooling-system repair, air conditioning on both the older and the newer refrigerant, and battery and 12-volt electrical work.
  • Taycan and E-Hybrid models: maintenance, brakes, tires, suspension, alignment and 12-volt electrical. High-voltage battery and drive-unit repair goes to the Porsche dealer.
  • Most current Porsche models are due for an oil service every 10,000 miles or one year and a brake fluid change every two years; we follow the schedule for your car, not a general rule.

Larger repairs are part of what we take as well: engine, transmission and electrical major repair. When an engine or transmission is beyond repair, the replacement is a remanufactured or new unit from the dealer or supplier.

What we don’t do on a Porsche

We would sooner tell you no on the phone than find out with your car on the lift. We don’t take air-cooled or classic Porsches. We don’t work on diesel models, we don’t program keys or fobs, and we don’t do feature coding or tuning. Body and paint, glass, towing, mobile service and used parts are not offered on any make. When a job is outside our shop, we refer you to the Porsche dealer.

What it costs

There is no Porsche price list here, and there will not be one. An estimate is written after the inspection or diagnosis, you are told the diagnostic charge before it begins, and no repair starts without your approval. Brakes are estimated after inspection. The one price we publish is wheel alignment at $119.95. Larger repairs can be financed from your phone, and every repair order earns Rewards dollars.
